• Blog. My visit to Dovecot Studio

I love to visit Dovecot Studio in Edinburgh.  The work they do is so inspiring.  Our Friday group organised a bus run there twice, and it never disappoints.  I took this photo of all the yarn lined up on the shelf, as I thought it looked beautiful as its own piece of art.

Some of the Art below are Tapestry Weaving’s and some are Rugs at the Dovecot.  You can watch the weavers at work from the gallery above, if you go at the right time.  The last time I was there someone was making a huge rug, and using this amazing electric tag gun thing that inserts about 40 bits of wool really quickly.  It was really good to watch and so quick.  There is so much talent out there, but these are a couple of my favourite pieces.

This one I thought was amazing because we got to see the front and the back.  I couldn’t believe how good the back looked, and still as vibrant.

This is the back of the Tapestry-is it not amazing!

Now they have a shop and a very good coffee place.  The coffee was good there and so was the food.  I can’t wait for the next time which will hopefully be soon, as I know there is a different exhibition on now. M 🙂

I love the mix of colours here.
