Leicester Longwool Finished Items
First is the Roma Flower Bag. I loved making this little bag, as it really is unique, feminine and romantic. I wanted you to see the bits before I put it together.
It has a lovely dainty looking handle, but you can be assured it’s also very solid, I just didn’t want to drown it by putting something to clunky and heavy looking on there.
The lining is so fresh and suits it perfectly (if I do say so myself…). It’s a great handbag size as you can fit your phone, purse and perfume in there.
The second item is the Roma Satchel which was quite difficult to put together using the solid lining, but now that I’ve had a go I am more prepared for next and have thought of a better way to do it.
I decided instead of knitting the shoulder strap that I would weave it using pegs, as it will be cushioning and will not stretch. It feels lovely and luxurious and is removable in case you just want to nip out with it as a hand bag.
I love the large crochet flower on the front and the 2 small ones at each end of the bag handle.
The sides and base gussets I knitted in garter stitch and double stranded to make it nice and strong. It’s a good size for you to fit your tablet, phone, purse & perfume in there and probably a bit of space left for your lipstick and eye liner.
I still have Leicester Longwool fabric on my loom, as I warped enough to do the Leicester bag and also another length for the Icelandic collection I’m doing. I will finish it all then wash it before separating the fabrics.
